Open source art and intersectional activism.

This research is interested in understanding how open source culture can affect the making and effects of art, science and technology. More specifically, it deals with the idea that language has material and bodily effects, rather than just describing or enunciating things, making this the basis of various open source artistic processes that intersect with activism and cultural criticism. This way, I analyze artworks that criticize cultural constructions and I develop artistic processes related to hacker culture. The research is related to intersectional activism, decolonial and queer epistemologies, since there is a necessity in the art, science and technology field to question its power relations through the construction of collective knowledge. Some of the topics of the research are the distinction between specialists and non-specialists, DIY programming, the body as a platform, sound art and performance art.
Tiago Ive Rubini is an artist and researcher currently based in Cologne, Germany. They’re interested in experimenting with artistic and scientific techniques, analog electronic technologies and programming. They participate in the groups cAt (science / Art / Technology) and GIIP ( Research Group for Convergence between Art, Science and Technology ) at São Paulo State University, Ground Zero at Academy of Media Arts Cologne and develop workshops, sound installations and performance acts based on the principles of shared knowledge, open source and DIY practices. Tiago Ive has participated of performance shows and exhibitions in São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Curitiba (PR), Juiz de Fora (MG) and Recife (PE), in Brazil, and Cologne (Germany), Sevilla (Spain) and Luxembourg.
