Textothek 3000
Julia Nakotte
Textothek 3000 is an interactive room installation in the style of a game arcade where visitors have the opportunity to participate in playful text creation.
Retro toys modified with text set the stage for interactive games in relation to (un)creative writing and the question of authorship.
The elements of the installation are meant to question the (avoidable) depth and (necessary) seriousness in the creation of literary texts.
⬑ One-armed bandit + Textpusher ⭢
The visitors have the opportunity to use a ⭠[Rubik’s cube covered with text], a ⬑[modified coin-pusher] and an ⭦[one-armed bandit] which re-arrange text-covered elements.
Every text is created through the interaction of human and machine and does not name an author of the literary works.
The main element of the installation is a vending machine that sells brand new author identities.
The visitor can purchase a biography and with it the exclusive right to use it to classify his or her art.
The visitor can purchase a biography and with it the exclusive right to use it to classify his or her art.
Every fictional identity comes with a name, a date of birth, a place of birth, a short bio and a symbolic model of a human body.
It exists once and has become completely the property of the buyer through the sale.
The visitor has the choice between an author´s identity with art experience for 4 euros or one without any art context for 1 euro.
The (financial) value of a work in relation to its author is to be questioned here.
